Choosing your Bridal Hairstyle

Bride looking in a mirror

Choosing your bridal hairstyle can be up there with some of the most difficult wedding planning decisions. Whether you’re ultra organised or extremely laid back as a bride, it can be the one thing that will make your brain hurt whenever you think about it. Personally, I fought with the choice between middle parting and side parting for a while. The middle shade won in the end!

Why don’t I debunk some wedding hair related myths and concerns to help make your decision easier?

“If you always wear your hair down, you should wear it up on your wedding day (and vice versa)” – While it’s true that some brides may choose to go against their ‘everyday hair look’ to surprise their guests, for the most part I advise against going drastically different from what you’re comfortable with. The last thing you may want is to not feel like yourself on your wedding day. You can always elevate your usual look, making it more bridal and special looking.

“If you have fine hair, you’re best to just put it up because nothing else will last.” – Of course, if you have very fine hair, it can limit your options with certain styles. However, with the right hair piece, padding or some version of clip-in extensions you can really do almost anything!

“I have short hair. I need to grow it for my wedding.” – This is something I hear all the time. If you’ve always envisioned yourself with long hair on your wedding day, then that’s totally fine. But if you’re only doing it because you think you should, then that’s not necessary! You want to feel completely like yourself on your wedding day. And if you love yourself with shorter hair then you can absolutely be a bride with shorter hair!

“If my dress is detailed on the back then I need to wear my hair up.” – Again, this is completely down to personal choice. Of course, it is lovely to be able to see all the detail in the dress, but it’s also important for you to feel confident with your hairstyle! There are some styles that are somewhere between up and down that I can show you so that you don’t have to choose either!

So, remember ladies: The most important factor when it comes to choosing your bridal hairstyle is how it makes YOU feel! Your confidence will shine through as long as you are comfortable with your style. I promise I will help you get there.

Much love,
